Mesoscopic lattice modeling of electrokinetic phenomena

چکیده
The development of models for electrolytes is challenging due to the long-range nature of electric interactions. We propose a novel implementation of a lattice Boltzmann model that solves a number of limitations and inconsistencies in previously proposed variants and discuss the range of parameters the model can cover. We show how the relevant electrohydrodynamic couplings are recovered analyzing a particular electrokinetic phenomena. 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Extension of the Improved Bounce-Back Scheme for Electrokinetic Flow in the Lattice Boltzmann Method
In this paper, an improved bounce-back boundary treatment for fluid systems in the lattice Boltzmann method [Yin, X.; Zhang J. J. Comput. Phys. 2012, 231, 4295–4303] is extended to handle the electrokinetic flows with complex boundary shapes and conditions. Several numerical simulations are performed to validate the electric boundary treatment. Simulations are presented to demonstrate the accur...
متن کاملMulti-Scale Modeling of the Gas-Liquid Interface Based on Mathematical and Thermodynamic Approaches
A gas-liquid interface involves complex physics along with unknown phenomena related to thermodynamics, electromagnetics, hydrodynamics, and heat and mass transfer. Each phenomenon has various characteristic time and space scales, which makes detailed understanding of the interfacial phenomena very complex. Therefore, modeling the gasliquid interface is a key issue for numerical research on mul...
متن کاملModeling The Capacity Factor of Analytes in Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography Using Computational Descriptors
A multiple linear regression model is proposed to calculate capacity factor of analytes using structural features computed using HyperChem software. The chemical descriptors of analytes were computed using HyperChem software and regressed against the experimental capacity factors of analytes collected from the literature. The absolute average percentage deviation (AARD) and individua...
متن کاملMesoscopic modeling of flow and dispersion phenomena in fractured solids
The problem of hydrodynamic dispersion in porous media is considered and numerical predictions of the mixing degree in a single intersection are provided. The flow field in the intersection and adjacent pores or fractures is calculated using a lattice Boltzmann model for single phase flow. A particle-tracking scheme is used, subsequently, that monitors the migration of solute particles in the a...
متن کاملMesoscopic Simulation of Forced Convective Heat Transfer of Carreau-Yasuda Fluid Flow over an Inclined Square: Temperature-dependent Viscosity
In the current study, non-Newtonian flow pattern and heat transfer in an enclosure containing a tilted square are examined. In order to numerically simulate the problem, the mesoscopic lattice Boltzmann method is utilized. The non-Newtonian Carreau-Yasuda model is employed. It is able to adequately handle the shear-thinning case. The simulation results of flow and heat transfer have been ...
